Taxidermist? Gunsmith? WTF? Possibly I over-emphasized how little I like to work with people. XD Artist was #14. Apparently I should be a Dental Assistant instead? Aww yeah, I've found my new calling. "While you're helplessly open-mouthed in the dentist's chair, let me tell you about the taxidermy services I offer. I'm having a special on cats this month..." *scrape scrape*

I am so tired, all I feel like doing is rambling on about stuff I love.

LJ Interests meme results

  1. bloodsplashed wetlook pleather:
This goes back to a very fevered flurry of emails with a friend of mine, regarding what would happen if you put Aya Fujimiya from Weiss Kreuz & Seto Kaiba from YuGiOh in the same little room. In no time at all, lemons were flying everywhere & my Corel Painter progam was weeping for mercy & lube. XDD Nooo, we don't have a thing for ice queens AT ALL. Nope.
  2. corsets:
I have long been interested in costume & jewellery history, & my main art history/curatorial focus in college was my obsession, Art Nouveau (esp. the jewellery: Lalique Lalique Lalique *drool*)--so I did a big researchy/theory paper/presentation thing that included corsetry & the female body in the fin de siècle period in regards to Art Nouveau jewellery. Anyhow, corsets: I like 'em. Wear some today!
  3. egypt:
Been obsessed with Egypt since before I can actually remember. OBSESSED. I finally got to go there when I was...20? I think I was about 20. It was unbelievable, a total spiritual landmark for me. I spent half the time near/in tears because it was all so familiar & I didn't want to leave...even the sleazy merchants were kind of endearing. Kind of.
  4. good wool yarn:
Oh, knitting, balm of my soul. Sometimes the only thing that stands between "me" & "me going totally bugfuck." Mom taught me to knit with good 'ol Red Heart acrylic yarn, but I quickly developed a yearning for natural fibers. ^^ Now I have a hard time even picking UP a skein of Red Heart! It's almost impossible to go back, after you've made anything with, say, a Merino/silk/alpaca blend.
  5. jrock:
Anything with that many pretty boys, all glittery & makeup-y & costume-y...I just can't help it.
  6. morpho butterflies:
I'm not a flowers-hearts-and-butterflies kind of butterfly lover. More of a Victorian-biological-collector sort, (which notion has informed a lot of my current decorating). _Angels and Insects_ was a real thrill. ;) I have a small collection of them now, & plan to increase it when I get one of my upstairs rooms ready for the display. Right now my prize is a beautiful iridescent laser-blue/white male Morpho sulkowski...he shows up in the backgrounds of some of my doll photoshows.
  7. prospero's books:
My very favourite film. Greenaway's one of those directors--you either "get" him & adore him, or his stuff drives you nuts & you never want to see any more. The Tempest is my favourite Shakespeare, I'm a calligrapher, I adore Sir John Gielgud (not to mention Mark Rylance *woof*)...for me, it just doesn't get any better.
  8. severus snape:
I am such a sucker for a mighty schnoz. Snape just pushes all of my buttons right through the console. ;; I can't even tell you how crippled with joy I was when they picked Alan Rickman to play him...
  9. the scarabae:
Tanith Lee makes me so very happy. Her convoluted family of incestuous vampiric aesthetic decadent weirdoes have made me extra-happy since I was about 13. ^__^
  10. vodou:
On my office mantel right now, I have 3 sequinned Voudoun libation bottles, 3 sequin pakets (all from Haiti), statues of Horus & Bastet (brought back from Egypt, natch), an antique scrimshawed ostrich egg (which has to be seen to be believed), a Czech Art Nouveau vase, the aforementioned Morpho sulkowski, Simone (white Lusis) & Lucy (Sharmin, my first BJD). Oh, and a mirror, because I am a Leo & we can't help ourselves.

Kind of a telling little collection.
